The Youth Technology
Seminar Series (YTSS) is designed to introduce students to modern
computer technology. The program extends student knowledge beyond
the users of technology. Students are introduced to the underlying
theory and practical application development, that is creating vs.
using technology. Skills learned in BDPA camps carry-over into
school work in high school; college and technology careers. Introductory Web Site Building
Students will learn:
- Operation and theory of the Internet
- Identify and understand Internet Components
- Web development programming languages and tools
- How web pages use graphics, animation, audio and video
- How to layout and design web sites
Introduction to Electronic Circuit Design
Students will learn:
- Power, Current and Voltage relationship
- Binary number system
- Digital logic (gates, transistors, logic operators)
- Circuit construction (timers, flashing lights, counters)
- Computer circuits and software interfaces
Multimedia Production
Training
Students will learn:
- How to create a PowerPoint Presentation
- Shoot and edit video programs
- Give effective audio/visual presentations
- Digital Video Camera Operation
Mobile Computer/Smart
Phone Application Design Students will learn:
- How to write software applications for PDAs and Smart Phones
- About the technology used to produce mobile computing devices
- Practical applications for mobile computers
- Software application installation
